For Summer I offer shorter, immersive workshops (in lieu of my 10 week, group sessions that I hold in Spring, Fall and Winter)
Wheel Throwing Immersive Workshop
During this weekend workshop, we'll practice focused, immersed throwing to help us to create the pieces we design. We'll also cover trimming techniques. For an additional fee, pieces can be bisque fired for pick up at a later date.
During this weekend workshop we'll use soft slabs and texture to build teapots and matching cups. We'll glaze the unfired pieces, they'll be fired after the end of the workshop for pick up at a later date.

"Fantastic introduction...Classes are small, so if you're new to pottery - like me - you get lots of attention. If you're already experienced, then you get Barbara's expert advice when you want it. Great atmosphere...and a great way to explore the medium."

"I had never used a potter's wheel or even been inside a pottery studio when I began classes with Barbara. She has made the study of pottery very enjoyable as well as informative. We always have a lot of fun in class, but it is a serious class and a great educational experience. Barb is very patient as well and encouraging to all her students no matter what their skill level is. I highly recommend Barbara Dunshee Pottery."
"Barbara is an excellent teacher, and she creates a warm and fun learning atmosphere. Barbara strikes the perfect balance of challenging students, while giving them plenty of room to experiment on their own. She personalizes her teaching for each student, helping students develop and achieve goals. Her studio provides a great learning environment, and she has a great glaze collection! All in all, top-notch!!"
"Barbara's pottery class is like a very good Tapas restaurant that is vibrant, full of surprises, and will bring you back again and again. Intrigued by her art work, I signed up for her class a year ago and have since become one of the many loyal students of hers. As a slow learner myself, she has been amazingly patient and never show any sign of irritation. Barbara is always dependable, helpful with suggestions, and overflow with artistic ideas. She is truly the best pottery instructor in this area."
"I used to take ceramics a long time ago and wanted to get back into something more creative than sitting behind a desk all day -- this class was perfect...super fun! Lots of different skill levels so I didn't feel silly not remembering anything, but when I was getting more comfortable with the clay, Barbara was great about really encouraging students. She'll help you experiment with different techniques while still giving you the demos and advice you need to keep learning. Really recommend..."

Barbara Dunshee Pottery practices sustainability and water conservation! We wet-clean as we work to keep clay dust to a minimum, ensuring clean, healthy air in the studio. The studio water is sourced with non-plumbed containers, allowing all clay and glazes to be recycled and reused within the ecosystem of the studio. Electric lighting is a combination of LED and full-spectrum fluorescents. Flooring is recycled rubber from tires. Even the students are recycled since they keep coming right back!
